Kommandonek Game Reserve is a private wild life sanctuary situated just outside Parys towards Schoemansdrift, edged by the beautiful Vaal River flowing through a range of scenic mountains which were created by the impact of a meteor hitting the earth, known today as the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site.

About 15 kilometers from Parys, and one an half hours drive from Johannesburg International Airport, is Kommandonek Game Reserve. This is a private wild life sanctuary edged by the beautiful Vaal River traveling through a range of scenic mountains. Kommandonek Game Reserve is situated in the center of this 80-kilometer wide meteor basin and supports a wildlife conservancy which includes 150 different types of bird species and game.
